【摘要】:Thermogravimetryprovidesarapidmethodforthedeterminationofthetemperature-decompositionprofileofamaterial.Thispracticeisusefulforqualitycontrol,specificationacceptance,andresearch.Thispracticeshallnotbeusedforproductlifetimepredicationsunlessacorrelationbetweentestresultsandactuallifetimehasbeendemonstrated.Inmanycases,multiplemechanismsoccurduringthedecompositionofamaterial,withonemechanismdominatingoveronetemperaturerange,andadifferentmechanismdominatinginadifferenttemperaturerange.Usersofthispracticearecautionedtodemonstratefortheirsystemthatanytemperatureextrapolationsaretechnicallysound.1.1ThispracticecoversadditionaltreatmentoftheArrheniusactivationenergydatadeterminedbyTestMethodE1641todevelopathermalendurancecurveandderivearelativethermalindexformaterials.1.2Thispracticeisgenerallyapplicabletomaterialswithawell-defineddecompositionprofile,namelyasmooth,continuousmasschangewithasinglemaximumrate.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4ThereisnoISOstandardequivalenttothispractice.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
