【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthegrammageofpaperandpaperboard(massperunitarea).InEnglish-speakingcountriesthecustomaryorcommercialpracticeofexpressingthe"weight"perunitarea(moreproperly"massperunitarea")ofpaperhasbeen"basisweight,""reamweight,"or"substance,"definedasthemassinpoundsofareamofagivensheetsizeandnumberofsheets(usually500sheets,occasionally480sheets).InmostothercountriesandincreasinglyinEnglish-speakingcountries,themassperunitareaisexpressedingramspersquaremetre.TheFrenchtermformassperunitarea,"grammage,"isrecommendedbyISOCommitteeTC6onPaperforuseinEnglishaswellasinFrenchbecauseofitsconvenienceandclearrelationshiptogramspersquaremetre.Themassperunitareaofpaperboardhasbeenexpressedinthecustomarysystemasthemassinpoundsperthousandsquarefeet,andinthemetricsystemasgramspersquaremetre.TheSImetricunits,inwhichgrammage(massperunitarea)isexpressedingramspersquaremetre(g/m),arethepreferredunitsforASTMtestmethodsforpaperandpaperboard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
